KSS Verkko invests in fault detection in cooperation with Ensto

The Finnish electricity distribution company KSS Verkko has ordered cabinets containing fault passage indicators from Ensto to be installed in their existing secondary substations in Kouvola, Finland. The installation, commissioning and upkeep of the cabinets is finalized by Ensto Maviko by the end of February 2024.

With Ensto’s fault indication installed in the cabinets, KSS Verkko can detect and isolate faults faster in the critical parts of their underground network, and thus significantly reduce the interruption time of customers.

KSS Verkko’s order of fault detectors is a continuation of the successful pilot carried out together during 2023 in Kouvola. “The great thing is that fault locating in Ensto's product is clearly more accurate than with other products we have tested. This gives us immediate access to the right area to fix the fault, which naturally shortens the duration of the distribution outage," KSS Verkko’s Technical Service Director Kai Kuvaja commented on the accuracy of the fault detectors after the pilot.

Ensto’s Sales Manager Harri Tuononen rejoices the positive reception of the fault detectors in the Finnish market and the fluent cooperation with different parties in the project: “We are happy to continue our cooperation with KSS Verkko with our fault detectors, which have proved to be extremely accurate. This is also the first joint project for the Ensto and Ensto Maviko after Maviko joined Ensto Group in 2023, and a great new opening on the Finnish market together. We can now serve our DSO customers more comprehensively with a full range and on a turnkey basis.”
