Technics Nerd, Nature Lover and Mom

My name is Monika, and I am 35 years old. I am married and a mom of a 3-year-old son, so everyday life is very eventful currently. We live in a small village called Sichelbach, which is located in the east of Austria. Our home is truly in the middle of nature, and we enjoy its beauty, greenness, and animals every day.

Valuing Flexibility

In January 2021 I applied to Röhrbacher Technik, got the job, and in June 2021 we joined the Ensto family after an acquisition. I work three days a week, approximately 25 hours so that I can spend more time with my son – he is still so little. I value the flexibility at work and am ready to be flexible myself, too, where needed. Sometimes it is challenging to handle everything that is included in everyday life, all the roles and responsibilities, but it is worth the struggle. I am always doing my best.

A Need to Open Things

I got interested in technical matters very early. Today, I would be called as technics nerd – and I am proud of it. As a teenager I always had a screwdriver in my hand as I wanted to know how everything worked and opened every device – like the radio and video recorder – to see what was inside. Already at school I started learning about electronics so continuing that road was an easy choice. Therefore, I went to the Technical University of Vienna to study electrical engineering. I was super interested in electrotechnics, so I did my practical training internship in a small audio and video installation company, where I continued working during my studies, programming microcontrollers.

Small Office, Versatile Duties

There are six persons in our Ensto Austria office – and the amount of personnel doubled in half a year! It is nice to belong to a bigger, international group. I also like working in a team as I think that we need other people to do things – we cannot succeed alone. Today, additionally to my technical career, I am happy to be able to learn to know the whole order delivery process of Ensto. In a small local company, you can do a little bit of everything, and I like that. My responsibilities cover internal sales and technical customer support but also other back-office duties. The versatility is motivating.

Building a Training Center

In 2022 I will be providing cable preparation training within the Ensto Pro training concept. At the moment we are building up a training center for Ensto products so the installers can come and learn how to get the most out of our high-quality products. When we have taken the center in use, I will be responsible for training the installers – and I am very excited about that. I have not heard that our local competitors would have this kind of a concept.

Enjoying Expertise

I think that everything that I’ve studied and all the work I have done has influenced my expertise. Thanks to the experience I stay positive, calm and efficient in every situation, and the electrotechnical background is a clear asset in my current work. I love my job and the fact that I can learn something new every day. Hence, working here offers me a possibility to develop – to be an even better expert for the company. I enjoy the expertise of myself and of others.

In Sync with Nature

I have always lived in sync with nature. I grew up in a tiny, tiny village, even smaller than the village we are currently living in. My parents had a horse stable, so I literally spent my childhood with horses, staying all day outside. Now I don’t have time for riding but earlier that was my favorite thing to do. Someday, I’d like my son to learn how to ride and to feel the connection with animals – especially horses, who are super sensitive and intelligent. We spend a lot of time outdoors with the family. Right now, we have a lot of snow, so we go sledding, and in summer we love to hike. My son also fancies kick-biking and whatever is done out-of-doors in fresh air is ok! I want to raise my child to active living outdoors.
