Live line training for Baltic customers

Our Baltic customers were trained for medium voltage live line installation methods in Tampere, Finland. Tailor-made training was arranged in cooperation between Ensto and HeadPower. Always when electricity distribution is interrupted, it means power outages for the end users. With live line working methods it’s possible to minimize supply interruptions in the network and thus, improve the overall quality of the electricity distribution.

Target of the live line training was to increase the understanding and knowledge about benefits and possibilities of live line working methods, compared to regular way of installation with interruption. Training included both theory and installation in practice. The weather in Tampere was like typical Finnish spring: sun, rain and snow - in other words: authentic field conditions.

Aris Baumgarts, Electrical Engineer, head of Distribution Network OHL working group at AS Sadales Tikls (Latvia) commented the training as follows:

  • The training was well structured and divided by the topics and it will be useful in our company to implement LLW.
  • Very interesting and useful practical trainings, providing deeper view and the nuances of LLW.
  • Practical demonstrations and trainings were quite similar to the real field situation.
  • Still left some open questions for the further developing of LLW in our company – creating of legislative rules for LLW based on the experiences from the  Scandinavian countries.
