METSO MINERALS RELIES ON ENSTO ENCLOSING SOLUTIONS

At our Mikkeli plant, Marko Kämppi is responsible for the motor, hydraulics and steering controls used in SpeedLine crushers. The functionality of each control unit is tested before delivery.

Ensto Cubo enclosures in a demanding environment: Metso Minerals crushers.

With an annual turnover of MEUR 1,735, Metso Minerals is a leading global supplier of rock and minerals processing solutions and part of the Metso Group. The company employs a staff of 8,500 world-wide.

Metso Minerals (Tampere) Oy manufactures crushers: primary crushers, cone crushers, mobile track-mounted crushing plants and environmentally friendly recycling crushers. The company's major customer segments are quarries, sand and gravel pits, contractors and mining operations.

The focal point of Metso Minerals' product development is the improvement of production efficiency. The unique track-mounted SpeedLine product line, specifically aimed at contractors, comprises four consecutive work stations, each of which covers a separate part of the crushing process. Aircushion-based mounting pedestals with a 50 t capacity are used for moving the conveyors within the production line; the conveyors are assembled on the pedestal and moved from one station to the next by means of the pedestal's drive motor and pressurized air injected into the aircushion.

Crusher production is subject to seasonal fluctuation, demand peaking in the spring due to Europe’s more subdued building activity during the winter. “Ensto has proved exemplary in reacting, for example, to production peaks”, enthuses Jussi Sjöblom, Global Sourcing Manager of Metso Minerals.

Metso Minerals relies on Ensto enclosing solutions. The crushers' motor, hydraulics and steering controls are manufactured at Ensto's Mikkeli plant. Ensto’s partnership with Metso Minerals has resulted in a highly individual process based on daily communication.

In addition to Metso Minerals, we provide services to many of Metso's subcontractors. Sales of tailor-made solutions are the responsibility of Kari Reponen, who explains: “We must be able to offer the same top-level service to Metso Minerals' suppliers.”
