Ensto is a partner in building safety enclosures for Autronica maritime fire suppression and fire security systems

Ensto provides customized steel enclosures to fire safety systems for Autronica Fire and Security AS in Norway. The dimensions, holes, clamps end even painting has been customizes to the customer’s needs.

Norwegian Autronica Fire and Security AS is a long-standing player in the maritime market. The company develops, manufactures and supplies fire safety equipment and marine safety monitoring and surveillance equipment. The systems of Autronica are used to provide protection in many thousands of ships worldwide. Products include fire suppression systems, high-level alarm systems, gas detection systems, tank and vapor pressure systems, temperature alarms, fire alarm and detection and calibration equipment. Ensto has been chosen to be a partner for customized enclosures.

- Our company is owned by United Technologies Corporation (UTC), and we employ more than 370 persons. Our customers are located all over the world. Through the headquarters in Trondheim, Norway, we can serve our European, Finnish and Scandinavian customers. For overseas sales, we have offices of our own in Shanghai in China, in Busan in South Korea, and in Ft. Lauderdale in the USA. We also provide a well-developed distribution network worldwide, says Product Manager Lars Elsrud. - As the markets are global, it is important we have flexibility in our service and products. The fire regulations are continually changing, which also keeps us active with system development. We have to find new solutions to meet the new requirements.

Steel enclosures are customized to fire safety systems

- The Ensto enclosures are specially made for us. The dimensions, holes, clamps, end even painting have been customized to our needs. The first contact with Ensto was made via our purchase department, but after that there has been active co-operation with many of our different departments. We mostly co-operate with Ensto’s Norwegian office in Oslo, and things have been going well, Lars Eslrud comments. - We believe Ensto is much better in non-standard enclosures than many of its competitors. This is based on flexibility and cost efficiency even in small series’. Our need per product may vary from one to ten, from ship to ship, and we want all our enclosures to be branded in our black company color in cabinets. The color is also very practical in the machinery spaces. Steel is a requirement in fire systems.
